Yıllar öncesinin albümlerde muhafaza edilen fotoğrafları, günümüzde yerini bile bilmediğimiz okyanus ötesi sunucularda muhafaza edilmekte. Bulut adı verilen bu sunuculara erişim sözüm ona sadece fotoğrafın sahibi tarafından yapılmakta.
Bu durum görsel ve kişi arasındaki ilişkiyi nasıl etkiliyor?
Proje bu kapsamda, öncelikle görsellerin nasıl saklandığını konusunu ele alıp irdeliyor. İçine doğduğu teknolojiyi hiçbir zaman irdeleme gereği duymayan insanı, “kullanıcı” düzeyinden kopartıp, “düşünen kullanıcı” düzeyine çıkartmayı hedefliyor. Bu amaçla dijital ortamda saklanan verilerle ilgili bir araştırmaya girişiyor. Araştırma kapsamında ağırlığı olmayan “0” ve “1”lerden oluşan (bit), kullanıcı düzeyinde anlaşılması zor teknik kavramlardan ziyade mevcut fotoğrafları ve devre kartlarını kullanıyor. Çok uzak sunucularda hafıza modüllerine 0 ve 1’lerle kodlanarak şifreli bir şekilde saklanan verilerin “kişisel ve özel olmama” durumunu ifade etmeye çalışırken, kendi hayatından ve görüntülerinden yola çıkıyor. Ayrıca herhangi bir ölüm durumunda bu görsellere ne olacağı hakkında da düşünmemizi istiyor.

In this context, the project first deals with the issue of how images are stored. It aims to raise the person, who never needs to examine the technology he was born into, from the "user" level to the level of the "thinking user". For this purpose, he is undertaking a research on data stored in digital media. Within the scope of the research, it uses existing photographs and circuit boards rather than technical concepts that are composed of "0" and "1" s (bits), which are difficult to understand at the user level. While trying to express the "non-personal and non-private" state of the data stored in an encrypted form by encoding 0 and 1 in memory modules on very remote servers, it sets out from his own life and images. He also wants us to think about what will happen to these images in case of any death.
